Our trip to Sicily in 2012 was in late October and while we would willingly return that time of year, we liked the spring better. The biggest benefit was snow on Mt. Etna. That really adds a dimension to the images and we fully anticipated this before the trip. But what we did not expect was the wildflowers. Sicily's got lots of them. Now that we are halfway around the island I thought we could pause the travelogue and look at some.

I wish I knew the names of all these different flowers. They sure dress the place up.

We were a little early for the bougainvillea. It was just getting started on our last few days. That would be one advantage to going in the fall. It runs riot cultivated and wild.
